Friday, January
8th : Ken Mathieson’s Classic Jazz Ortchestra:
what better way to start the New Year than with Ken’ great 8
piece band? Playing the music of the classic years – Oliver,
Armstrong, Morton, Bix and many others – this is an excellent
opportunity to listen or to dance to a fine orchestra full of
fine musicians. www.classicjazzorchestra.org.uk
Friday, February
19th: Martin Bennett;s Old Green River Band: making a
welcome return to the Club, Martin’s band will treat you to an
excellent evening of New Orleans jazz, featuring a programme of
many old favourites, liberally sprinkled with some unusual
numbers. Martin tells me that trumpeter Dave Copperwaite has
retired and has been replaced by an old pal of mine, Chez
Chesterman. This is sure to be great night.
Friday,
March 5: Mysto’s Hot Lips :this
will be this exciting band’s second visit to the Club.
At the end of
the first gig the audience were full of praise for the band’s
performance and asked when a return visit would be booked. Well,
here you are. Don’t miss it
Friday,
March 26th : Brian Carrick’s Algiers Stompers: many
people at the Club have asked me what has happened to Brian
Carrick. Certainly, this will be the first appearance for some
time. Brian spends a lot of time in New Orleans and the
‘Stompers’ are in great demand throughout the UK and Europe, so
it is difficult to get a mutually agreeable date. Fortunately,
agreement has been reached and you can all be reassured that if
you close your eyes you will be transported back to the dance
halls of New Orleans. This is one of the very best New Orleans
style bands playing anywhere. Don’t miss this one!
Friday, March 12th
: The Anti-Climax Jazz Band: appearing at the
Club once again, by popular demand. The band’s first appearance
took the Club by storm and Allan has agreed to get the band
together again. Just to remind you, the line-up is Jim Petrie
(cornet), Alan Quinn (trombone), George Gilmour (clarinet),
Brian Weld (banjo), Kenny McDonald (string bass), Kenny Milne
(drums). See you at the gig.
