Monday, July 19: The Columbia Jazz Band

This is a 20 piece big band from the USA, playing the great
swing music of the 20s, 30s and 40s. The format of the evening
will be a dance, so take yourself back to the days of the Palais,
Plaza or Cavendish and dance the night away. You can get a
sample of the band on You Tube.
EDINBURGH
INTERNATIONAL JAZZ & BLUES FESTIVAL
Friday, July 30:The
first of two Fridays in conjunction with The Edinburgh
International Jazz Festival. The Rae Brothers New Orleans Jazz
Band have appeared regularly at the Club and are, probably, the
most popular band to do so
Friday, August 6: The Antique Six (www.antiquesixjazzband.com):
In the only appearance at the Club, to date, this band went down
a ‘bomb’. A quality band, playing great Traditional Jazz, they
evoke the sound of the early Alex Welsh Band.

Friday, August 20: The Hot House Hooters (www.hothousehooters.de):
The name nearly put me off when I was asked if the Club would
take the band. I immediately demanded a demo. What a surprise!
Don’t be put off by the name. This is a really excellent band –
listen to some great Traditional Jazz on the website. The band
come from Nuremberg, Germany
EDINBURGH JAZZ ‘N’ JIVE CLUB 10TH ANNIVERSARY
This year the Edinburgh Jazz ‘n’ Jive Club is 10 years old. As
part of the 10th anniversary celebration the Club is presenting
2 excellent bands on 10 & 12 September. Ticket prices are being
heavily subsidised by the club and are £6.00 (members) / £7.00
(non-members) OR if you go to both events tickets are
£10.00 (members) / £12,00 (non-members)
Friday, September 10: The Blueberries Jazz Band:
From
Denmark, this is a fun band and brings its own fan club. Last
year, when the band visited the Club, a great night was had by
all – good jazz & haggis, neeps & tatties!
Sunday, September 12: The Dave Donohoe Band:
A New Orleans Revival style band, this is one rocking band –
you’ll get New Orleans standards, rags, blues, R’n’B, C&W
numbers and unusual old pop songs., played by a group of the
best musicians around. The band has appeared at the Club on
many occasions in the past
